Getting to know Melissa Harbridge, Onboarding Team
Our Employee Spotlight is a monthly edition of the amazing individuals behind our Hop platform. From developers to marketers, those dedicated to customer success, sales leaders and beyond. Every month, we delve into the lives of the individuals that make up the Hop brand. We find out exactly what makes our team tick, so you can get to know us a little better and finally put a face to a name.
This month the spotlight is on Melissa from our Onboarding Team. Melissa has been with us for just over a year now and is based out of our office in Chester. She works hard to deliver a smooth experience for all our new customers.
Briefly describe your day at Hop…
First off, I always start my day with a Coffee and it has to be the Princess option from our fancy Sage coffee machine (other machine’s are available). Set-up for the day and raring to go with my caffeine rush I reply to any customer emails, conduct online or on-site training for our customers, set their hotel up from start to finish and once complete set them live with Hop.
What’s the best thing about your job at Hop?
I would have to say the variety, I am constantly learning new skills, which can sometimes be difficult, but seeing it through to the end result gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
What’s the best thing about working for Hop?
The Team as we all support each other, I have already learnt so much in the short time I have been working here.
What does your workspace look like?
Tidy, I hope.
What’s been your proudest moment so far working at Hop?
Without a doubt, setting our first overseas hotel client from Canada live. It was a very challenging project as I was learning new integrations that I was unfamiliar with and had not worked with before. It was a great achievement to see them go live and really made all the hard work worth while. Plus, they were a pleasure to work alongside.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
Shopping of course, meeting up with friends, going out for dinner, holidays and going to the gym.
What inspires you the most?
Fill in the blank: I once met…
This is embarrassing and nothing I should really brag about, but in 2013 my friend and I went to Los Angeles for my 21st birthday and we met Mario Lopez, who if you don’t know played AC Slater in the 90’s show “Saved by the bell”. Kind of wish it was someone more famous.
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
Definitely the ability to fly, getting to see the world from that perspective would be incredible.
What song title best describes your personality?
There are too many songs to choose from that match my personality, so I’ll have to choose my favourite instead; but even that is hard as there are so many songs that I love. One of my all time favourites has to be ‘Don’t Dream It’s over’ by Crowded House.
Best place you have ever travelled?
Surely you can guess this from my superpower answer. It has to be Orlando, Florida, I was very lucky to go there a few times when I was younger, the theme parks are like no other in the world.
In five words (or less) what advice would you give to others in your profession?
